Sukanta Bhattacharjya

Poet Sukanta was born in South Calcutta on August 15 in the year 1926. The name of his father was Nibaran Bhattacharjee and Suniti Devi was his mother. Sukanta started composing poetry right from his boyhood The exploitation and deprivation of the working class people sicked his soul. Man made war also sicked his soul. He felt pain to see the hatred and ill feeling between man and man. He had a great sympathy for the working class people. He expressed his deep love for the exploiting class and deep hatred for the exploiters through his poems. He died at the age of only twenty one.
